Music Is Love with Da Funkie Junkie & Friends every Saturday pays homage to music including soul, funk, jazz, disco and deep house, amongst others. The early hours will provide customers with an opportunity to discover the “roots” of dance music. The latter stages of the night will build towards current and classic deep soulful house, disco house and garage.

21st November sees a return to the decks of a Malaysian legend. With a pedigree that stretches back a quarter of a century the Groovedoctor has played a seminal role in the development of club culture and the electronic dance music scene in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Starting off his aural therapy excursions in 1990, the good doctor began experimenting with electronic music specifically house and garage at a time where pop, soul and R&B were the dominant genres in the local clubscene.

From the mid late 90s the genre grew in popularity and the Groovedoctor has since carved a reputation as Malaysia’s pioneer electronic music DJ, even picking up the title of ‘Best Local DJ 2002’, from lifestyle magazine – Juice and earning the right to the title of Malaysia’s ‘godfather of House’. The good doctor has administered therapy to thousands of clubbers, playing at almost every club and event in KL clubbing history as well as abroad. Among the clubs he has touched in KL are The Backroom, Movement, Boom Boom Room, Zouk KL, Velvet Underground, Hard Rock Café, Liquid, The Disco, Sugar, Café Iguana, Legends and Pyramid Supper Club besides headlining many major music festivals in the past. Internationally, he has rocked venues in Bangkok, Jakarta, Bali, San Francisco and Tokyo. To date he has shared deck duty with some of the biggest names in the music industry including: Frankie Knuckles, Kenny Dope Gonzales, David Morales and Sven Vath. His career was not only restricted to the clubs; he helped establish the local electronic dance music scene through professional consultation for corporate sponsors that helped pave the way for Kuala Lumpur to be considered one of the world’s elite clubbing scenes.

In later years, Groove opened Six Zero Three Management – an events and talent management agency with partner in crime DJ Jungle Jerry and together they moved the electronic music scene to all new heights. Some of the acts featured at their events were top international acts such as Haze, Jazzy Jeff, Judge Jules, Kenny Dope Gonzales, Sven Vath, Dub Pistols, Robin S, Inaya Day, Pako & Frederik, Simon Coyle, Alex Taylor and DJ Mag Tours just to name a few. Six Zero Three conceptualized and also managed music festivals for crowds of up to 20,000 in Sunway Lagoon and Genting Highlands besides a slurry of local club nights and special events.
