OUTLOOK FESTIVAL KL Launch Party 2016 29th July
FOR the fourth consecutive year, Kuala Lumpur gets to host one of a battalion of launch parties all over the world for what has been described in the last eight years as Europe’s leading bass music and sound system culture festival — Croatia’s Outlook Festival.
Festival organisers have embarked on a worldwide tour in the lead up to Outlook Festival 2016, and like-minded music lovers will have a chance to party together at some 75 unique events, bringing the Outlook vibe to 28 countries. They’re giving massive shouts to all of their partners and everyone involved to see you all at the dance.
On July 29, the festival’s official Malaysian partner of four years now, Kuala Lumpur-based drum’n’bass collective Loops Collective will once again bring Malaysian clubbers a taste of the festival at COMO in TREC on Jalan Tun Razak.
Featured international guest will be Royalston from Australia. Sydney-based, classically-trained DJ/producer Dylan Martin (middle name ‘Royalston’) has been listening to drum’n’bass since 1993, producing for 12 years and DJ-ing for about 10.
A man of many talents, Royalston is also an illustrator/designer and first got into music production when he was making a soundtrack for a 3D animation. His music is characterised by a raw, analogue sound with a techy edge (thanks to plenty of hardware such as his favourite Korg MS-20), and he has released on labels such as Bad Taste and Black Acre before signing exclusively to Med School in 2012, as well as Hospital Records.
A host of DJs and producers will be at the launch, spreading vibes from drum’n’bass, dub, jungle to house and techno over two rooms on July 29.
Room 1 (first floor) goes drum’n’bass, dub and beats with Royalston, DJ Low, Ken DMA, Mac, Naxx and Tubby.
Room 2 (ground floor) goes house and techno with Groovedoctor vs DJ K, Miss SS, R.X.G vs DJ Tee.
The Outlook festival, scheduled for Aug 31–Sept 4, is now approaching its ninth year, going from strength to strength, bringing a wide spectrum of bass music including drum’n’bass, reggae, breaks, dubstep, house, techno and hip hop to give a taste of the music and culture that Croatia’s No. 1 festival has a worldwide reputation for setting alight.
With a confirmed line up of more than 250 artistes already, the likes of Andy C, Damian Marley, Stormzy, Goldie, Benga, Roni Size & Krust, MJ Cole and London Elektricity are set to headline the five-day marathon in and around the 150-year-old Fort Punta Crista in Pula, on the northern coast of Croatia, overlooking the Adriatic Sea.
